The National Youth Sports Program (NYSP) At Yale University Partners With New Haven Warriors Rugby Program

Warrior’s management are pleased to announce the partnership with the National Youth Sports Program at Yale University. The Warriors launched the 1st New Haven County youth development Rugby program in January, and have expanded to 3 high schools so far: New Horizons, Branford and Madison high schools. The New Haven Warriors youth development program is proudly sponsored by Citizens Bank.

The goals of the Yale Athletics Thomas W. Ford ’42 Community Outreach Program Mission are:

  1. To bring Yale athletics and Yale student-athletes in to the community
  2. To provide Yale student-athletes the opportunity to become involved in community programs
  3. To provide opportunities for community groups and organizations
  4. To continue to develop new creative programs that benefit the community

NYSP at Yale University is a summer program that runs for 4 weeks, and Rugby will be integrated as one of the outdoors sports stations on July 17, 24 and 31st. Warriors youth development coaching staff includes Siose Muliumu (2008 AMNRL MVP), Ewan Robinson (2008 Best forward award), Jonathan Paredes (2008 Rookie of the year award), Ihaka Waerea (Super 14’s Wellington Hurricanes colts) and Roy Leoni. The Warriors will be announcing shortly plans to complete their spring youth development program with a Rugby League 7’s tournament the weekend prior to the AMNRL season kickoff.
